The Office of Science and Technology (S&T Unit) advises the Minister on the strategy for the prioritisation, preparation and implementation of national and international programmes in science and technology. The Office of Science and Technology formulates policy in Science, Technology and Innovation, inter alia, by reviewing the experience of existing schemes and by researching the trends and indicators, both physical and financial, of the developments in science and technology in Ireland and internationally.
New Research and Technological Development and Innovation (RTDI)I Measures for the period 2000-2006
- RTDI for Industry
This scheme is aimed at building up capability and capacity in RTDI. - RTDI for Collaboration
Aimed primarily at building up links between industry & third level institutions and also at the commercialisation of research. - RTDI Infrastructure
This measure is principally geared towards Basic Research and under the measure Science Foundation Ireland funds excellence in research in the fields of biotechnology and Information and Communications Technology. In addition support is provided for regional Business Incubators in Institutes of Technology (ITs).
