The Employment Permits Section processes applications for Employment Permits. It is located within the Labour Force Development Division of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
The Employment Permits Section receives hundreds of applications on a daily basis. All applications received are pre-processed on the day of receipt. The purpose of pre-processing is to filter out applications, which have note been completed correctly. These applications are returned to the applicant for correction and/or completion, resulting in further delays. In some instances applications are returned on a second occasion. Applicants are advised to check that every part of the form is completed in full before submitting or re-submitting an application.
Applications that pass the pre-processing stage are filed by the date of receipt and the associated cheques are submitted for banking. All applications are processed in date of receipt order. For current processing dates please see the Employment Permits Main Page.
Prior to applying for an Employment Permit applicants are advised to check whether an Employment Permit is both necessary and/or the best option in his/her case.
If you are satisfied that you will require and qualify to apply for an employment permit you should refer to our Guides to Employment Permit Schemes for full details of our schemes.
