Current Working Visa / Work Authorisation Holders are not effected by the New Employment Permit Arrangements and can continue to work on their current Visas or Authorisations till they expire.
Once they expire any renewals of Work Visas / Work Authorisations will continue to be processed by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
When seeking to have the permission extended the persons should present themselves to their local Garda Registration Office (Garda National Immigration Bureau, 13/14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2 for persons residing in the Dublin area or the Garda Superintendent’s office in the relevant Garda district for persons residing elsewhere in the State) in order to apply for an extension of permission to remain.
When seeking to have permission extended the persons should present originals of the following documents:
• A valid passport
• A valid Garda National Immigration Bureau Card
• The person’s current P60
• A letter from the person’s current employer certifying the person’s employment in the skill category specified on their Working Visa or Work Authorisation.
Extension of permission to remain, if granted, will be for a further two year period or the date of expiry of their passport whichever is the earlier and will be subject to the same conditions as the original authorisation i.e. employment is authorised in the skill category specified on their visa/authorisation and the employee may change employer without further visa/authorisation provided that the employment remains in the same skill category.
