Role of the Enterprise Strategy and Inward Investment Unit

The Enterprise Strategy & Inward Investment Unit is responsible for ensuring that the industrial development agencies/bodies under its remit deliver an efficient and effective service to their respective clients on a value for money basis and the agencies/bodies listed below work to facilitate and promote the development of Irish industry:-
- IDA Ireland, the State-body statutorily charged with the attraction and development of overseas industry to and within Ireland
- Shannon Development (SFADCo), the regional economic development company responsible for tourism and regional economic development in the Shannon Region of Ireland.
- InterTradeIreland, was established under the Good Friday Agreement to 'exchange information and co-ordinate work on trade, business development and related matters, in areas where the two administrations specifically agree it would be in their mutual interest.’
The Unit of 11 staff provides the necessary administrative support to enable these agencies/bodies fulfil their mandate. The Unit's functions include funding of the agencies and contributing to enterprise policy development. A brief outline of the activities of the agencies, together with contact details is given below. The agencies produce a range of their own publications, which are available on their websites.
